The 6th ICBE in London was a success. Congratulations to Igorot-UK, who hosted this consultation! The generosity of the Pootens, Balagtey and Masferre families was so extraordinary that made the affair very successful. Thank you to you all.

I enjoyed all the activities especially the welcome and turnover evening. Everything was almost impromptu. The Gotad ad London highlighted the second evening. Most of the participants were Ifugaos from the Philippines and UK-based. The Keynote Address of Dr. Serafin Ngohayon on “Living Our Igorot Values” was so educative and enlightening.

The presentation on “Showing Ethnicity” by Dr. Caridad Fiar-od and the discussion on the Cordillera updates presented by Geoff Nettleton were both interesting. It was encouraging to know more about the Cordillera and what’s happening there.

The tour was also an eating activity so that the bus driver had to clean the mess twice. With this ICBE tour, I had the chance to see those sceneries beyond my imagination. Thanks to the guides from Bristol.

The gala night was fantastic. There were an enormous number of Igorot participants. The cultural dances of the whole Cordillera region were presented by representatives of the different towns and provincial organizations in Great Britain. This showed their strong solidarity.

The departure day was really a feel-good, feel-bad situation. Some had their chance to express their feelings while I didn't know what to say.

Thank you all who participated in this 6th ICBE consultation.

It was indeed a blessing to have been at the 6th ICBE Conference in London. How wonderful it is to see how Cordillerans working abroad could find time to celebrate their cultural values and be proudly Igorots. To the organizers, thank you very much for inviting us and congratulations for a work well done. Haggiyo takun Igorot!

Eight months ago, when Dr. Serafin Ngohayon announced that the ICBE will hold their 6th international conference in London, I immediately notified him of my interest in joining the group. “It’s an opportunity. Whether we will be able to solicit for our fare or not, I want to join the group”, I told myself.

What a very nice place London is. . . . .Very hospitable people…….. The Cordillerans, in particular, brought their hospitality culture and attitudes to London.

The ICBE Conference was indeed well planned and well implemented. The conference widened my horizon on Cordillera culture. The speech of Dr. Serafin Ngohayon on “Living Our Igorot Values” is interesting and pricking to the heart and mind. It, I believe, awakened my fellow Ifugaos and mentors from other provinces of the Cordillera who heard the speech and made them realize that they are “Igorots”.

As for me, I never argued on the fact that I am an Igorot.

Further, may I take this opportunity to thank every Igorot in London especially Mam Pooten and Family and all the Officers of the ICBE, Igorot-UK, Ifugao Organization-UK especially Mam Fely, Mam Hermie, Sir and Mam Sagauinit, Mam Agnes and all Igorots who had been patiently assisting us before, during and after the conference. May the Lord God bless you all.

Looking back to my younger years, I never understood what my parents were busy with. But when I started participating I came to realise it is all about the ICBE. I didn't know what ICBE or Igorot culture is. But as I participated, I began to understand a little bit of my Igorot culture.

In the 6th ICBE Conference, I was impressed with the participation of many Igorots showing their dances and wearing different attires of the provinces of the Cordillera.

Listening to the speakers and joining in the workshops, I can't understand a lot but it gives me the motivation to attend more ICBE consultations in the future.

Hope it will continue for the benefit of the GENERATION like mine !!!!

Hi all. My name is James Leroy Quintin and in behalf of my wife, Ronaliza, and our daughter Roisin, we would like to thank everybody, who participated and organized the 6th ICBE, for a wonderful time and a most memorable experience.

We feel that the importance of each ICBE not only reminds us of our culture, but also gives our daughter the chance to experience and immerse herself in our Igorot ways. In the workshops we learned some of our kakailians’ concerns in their native provinces, and also got the chance to learn the Ifugao dances and dresses in detail. Although the ICBE lasts only three days, the experience lasts a lifetime.

The following was written by Roisin, which I think sums up our experience during the ICBE.

My name is Roisin Quintin, I am eight years old. My Igorot name is Banakan. I enjoyed myself in the ICBE in London. I met loads of friends like Azriel, Igorot name is Olat, and his little brother Diego, Igorot name is Layugan.

I learned the Ifugao dance, the male version looked a bit harder. I saw all of my aunties and uncles that I saw in ICBE Germany. I have to say thank you to all and my Ifugao dance teachers who taught me how to dance the Ifugao dance. I hope I’ll see everyone in the next ICBE in Barcelona.
